Composum™ Quick-Facts

Composum is a modelling tool for draft, design and documentation. It can be used during the whole software development process. Generation of code resp. round trip engineering is not provided so that realisation takes place independently from Composum with the aid of any development environment. The developed code can be taken over again at any time.

Documents

• Consider of text elements, pictures and parts of documents
• title page, automatically generated table of contents, chapters, header and footer
• Availability of the document structure is given by the navigation tree; a possible modulation can be done by the aid of this
• Formatting of the text by usage of text styles defined in the configuration and more individual settings like bold, italic and underlined
• Text modules are not merged with page definitions in a static way
• Nevertheless definitions of pagebreaks or print proporties are possible
• The export format RTF submits printing

UML

• Support of the following diagram types:
  • Class diagram
  • Use case diagram
  • sequence diagram
• Export formats: EPS, SVG, JPEG, RTF
• Presentation of elements of the model; an element can be multiplicate represented and thereby showing different settings for graphics and details
• Because of the usage of different palettes different elements can be separated optically
• Rules for the protection of a coherent design model were automatically checked and if this state is in danger it will become visual for the user
• Infinite drawing area; automatical upgrading in all directions
• Any desired fade out or in of the elements

Pictures

• Are named arrangements of some elements of a diagram
• Function:
  • Reutilisation of parts of a diagram in a document
  • Optical separation from other elements of a diagram (for example logical arrangements)
• The document is always at the current state

• Determination between global settings being defined by Composum and user and project settings
• Central configuration of graphic format, text format and detail visibility that can be used everywhere
• Nonrecurring definition of palettes and text formats that are clever co-ordinated facilitates working in future
• Updating of modified formats affects the whole project

System Requirements

Because Composum is a pure Java application, it is usable on any platform disposing of a Java runtime environment.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

• JRE 1.3 or above
• recommended JRE 1.4.x

Hardware/Operating System

Basically the tool works on any platform with the according Java runtime environment. It was tested on:
